Penrose Apple Day will be on Saturday, October 7, 2011. This is a parade (at 10:30 am) and all day street fair in "downtown" Penrose on Broadway, with food and other vendors, free apple pie at noon. This event dates to 1935 when folks in Penrose held a softball tournament and residents baked apple pie for all the participants.
